The OLAS Extender is a compact signal repeater designed to increase the wireless range and reliability of the OLAS man overboard (MOB) system onboard larger or more complex vessels. It strengthens communication between OLAS wearable tags and onboard receivers such as OLAS Core or OLAS Guardian, ensuring continuous coverage even in areas where signal drop-off can occur.

By extending the effective range of the system, the Extender helps maintain stable tracking across longer vessels, multi-deck layouts, steel or carbon builds, and installations where equipment, structure, or interference can reduce signal strength.

Once installed, it works automatically in the background, repeating OLAS signals to maintain full system awareness. If a tag disconnects from the network, the alert is still triggered instantly through the main OLAS system, ensuring no delay in MOB detection or onboard alarm activation.

It is particularly useful for expanding coverage into areas such as foredecks, flybridges, aft sections, and below-deck spaces where standard signal range may be reduced.

Extender Compatibility and Setup

The OLAS Extender can only be used with OLAS products like the Guardian, Core, or N2K. To add the Extender to your system, ensure your OLAS hub is updated with the latest firmware. The setup is simple, using the OLAS app, which allows for seamless integration and management of the Extender within your existing system.

Once connected, the Extender not only maintains the connection but can also work in tandem with another Extender to cover even more area on larger vessels, making it possible to connect up to two Extenders running on the latest firmware.
