"I was pleased with the system and want to get enough tags to outfit my crew and family when they’re on board. The shut-off feature gives me MOB protection
while allowing me to move about the boat untethered. I can put tags on my grandkids, giving me extra peace of mind (as long as they don’t drop them in
the water!)."

— Mike Skufca, US Coast Guard Auxiliary

"I am a single-handed commercial rod and line fisherman running a Twin-seas catamaran with a twin engine setup. Having an OLAS wireless system is an absolute no-brainer in my opinion. Personally, I think this system should be mandatory for all outboard engines."

— Tony Heinemann, Commercial Fisherman, UK

"This system is even better than I imagined. After using the tag over a period of two weeks, I'm really impressed with how well it works. Thanks again, your system works much better than the Garmin or Fell system for us."

— Daniel, Hillsboro, USA

OLAS N2K - NMEA 2000 Person Overboard Alarm and Wireless Engine Kill Switch

SKU:EXPOLASN2K

OLAS N2K is a compact, intelligent man-overboard (MOB) safety interface designed to integrate the award-winning OLAS (Overboard Location Alert System) technology directly with a vessel’s NMEA 2000 network. It acts as the critical bridge between OLAS wireless crew-tracking wearables and onboard navigation electronics, ensuring that if a crew member goes overboard, the vessel receives an immediate, automated alert across its entire digital marine system.

By connecting wearable OLAS transmitters to the boat’s instrumentation, OLAS N2K transforms standalone safety alerts into a fully integrated MOB response - visible on chartplotters, audible onboard, and logged into the vessel’s navigation data within seconds.

Intelligent MOB Integration for Modern Vessels

When paired with OLAS transmitters such as OLAS Tag, OLAS Float-On, or OLAS Extender devices, OLAS N2K continuously monitors crew presence onboard. If a transmitter loses connection for approximately 2 seconds, the unit immediately triggers a man-overboard event.

This event is then broadcast over the NMEA 2000 network, allowing compatible multifunction displays (MFDs) and chartplotters to instantly:

  • Display a MOB alarm
  • Mark the last known position of the casualty
  • Provide immediate situational awareness for recovery
  • Alert all connected onboard systems simultaneously

This automation removes the delay of manual alarm activation and significantly improves emergency response times.

Seamless NMEA 2000 Connectivity

Designed specifically for integration into modern marine electronics, OLAS N2K connects directly to the vessel’s NMEA 2000 backbone via a standard drop cable. Once installed, it becomes a fully networked safety node within the onboard system.

Key integration features include:

  • Instant MOB alarm transmission across the NMEA 2000 network
  • Automatic waypoint creation at the point of disconnection
  • Compatibility with major marine electronics brands and MFDs
  • Continuous background monitoring with minimal user input
  • Simple plug-and-play installation with no complex calibration required

Never Miss a Man Overboard Event

MOB PGN - Man Overboard (PGN 127233) is sent to the NMEA 2000 network, activating any connected MOB device.

AIS Safety Broadcast (PGN 129802) – This internal alert simulates messages from EPIRB or SART devices with AIS VHF support, including the vessel's GPS location, allowing the chart plotter to mark the MOB point.

Scalable system

The OLAS N2K operates on a large scale, capable of tracking up to 25 OLAS transmitters around vessels up to 100ft in length. Whether you have a large motor vessel or a sailing vessel, this device has got you covered. Alternatively, it can be used to track a single tag on a motorboat, ensuring that the engine stops immediately if the helm falls overboard.

Saving lives

The OLAS N2K ensures that power boat and RIB drivers can stop their boat instantly if the skipper or crew get separated, preventing accidents from unmanned, uncontrolled vessels.

Freedom to move

A wireless kill cord allows free movement around the boat without the need to constantly attach and detach a physical kill cord.

Customisable Tag Modes

  • Engine stop - it acts as a kill cord, stopping the vessel when the tag is out of range, without triggering MOB alerts.

  • MOB alert - it alerts the vessel without cutting the engine.

  • Engine stop + MOB alert - this mode triggers crew alerts and cuts off the engine.
