Diesel Engine Stop Relay Box (Twin Engine)

High-current twin relay accessory for connecting OLAS Guardian to your engines' stop circuits

The EXPOLASGDRLY2 is a twin 30A-rated relay box accessory for the OLAS Guardian wireless kill-cord safety system, built for twin-engine diesel vessels. Where a vessel's existing engine stop circuits draw more current than the Guardian's internal 2A relay can switch, the EXPOLASGDRLY2 connects directly to the Guardian and provides the higher-rated switching capacity needed to mechanically activate both engines' stop solenoids simultaneously.

The Guardian unit receives its power directly from the EXPOLASGDRLY2 via the Guardian connection cable - no separate power feed to the Guardian is required.

Each unit is built to order, wired for your vessel's specific stop-circuit type (open to stop or close to stop), since this cannot be changed by the end user after manufacture.

•  Marine-rated 30A automotive relay (Durakool)

•  Sealed IP66 enclosure, rated for the marine environment

•  Connects directly to the OLAS Guardian - no separate wiring hub required

•  Guardian is powered directly from the relay box

•  Supports both open-to-stop and close-to-stop configurations, 12V or 24V

•  Field-replaceable relay

•  Built to order for your vessel's exact stop-circuit configuration

Do You Need This Part?

Use the steps below to work out how your Guardian should be connected, and whether you need a EXPOLASGDRLY / EXPOLASGDRLY2 relay box.

1. Is there an existing engine stop lanyard or switch?

Yes - this is usually the easiest connection point; continue to step 2.

No - you'll likely need to connect via the electronic stop switch or ECU signal wires instead.

2. Is the stop circuit "open to stop" or "close to stop"?

This determines whether the Guardian (or relay) is wired in series or parallel with the existing switch.

3. What's the current draw at the connection point?

Measure the amps while the engine is running, while it is stopping, and while it is stopped. Ensure this is carrried out with due caution and safety procedures in place.

•  Under 2A - the Guardian's internal relay can be used directly; you do not need a EXPOLASGDRLY.

•  Over 2A - you'll need an additional relay: EXPOLASGDRLY / EXPOLASGDRLY2

4. How many engines does the vessel have?

SIngle-engine - EXPOLASGDRLY

Twin engine - EXPOLASGDRLY2

5. Is the stop switch acting on the solenoid directly, via a pre-installed relay, or via the ECU?

•  Direct to solenoid - the EXPOLASGDRLY is wired into the solenoid power circuit, in series or parallel per your open-to-stop /
close-to-stop circuit. This is normally the highest current installtion.

•  Via an existing relay - the EXPOLASGDRLY (if the circuit draws over 2A) is wired in series or parallel with the existing switch, per open-to-stop / close-to-stop.

•  Via the ECU (signal switch) - if the circuit draws under 2A, the Guardian's own signal wires connect in series or parallel with the existing switch instead, and a relay box is not required.
