OLAS Mobile Application

OLAS Solo Mode is an automated SMS safety feature that activates if a connected OLAS tag disconnects from the app or OLAS hardware while the app is running. It is designed for solo operators to ensure help can be raised even when no one else is onboard.

If a disconnection occurs, the system automatically sends a text message (minimum 2G connection required) containing essential information including the vessel name, time of incident, and GPS location, along with a callback number so the incident can be verified before emergency services are contacted.

This provides a vital communication link in a man overboard or separation event, helping ensure a fast, informed response when every second counts.

Use the OLAS app to adjust detection time and alert delay settings, allowing full customisation across different vessel types and operating conditions.

Detection time controls how long a tag can be temporarily disconnected before an alarm is triggered. Extending this window allows for brief, expected signal interruptions to be ignored and is particularly useful on larger vessels where short dropouts in connection can occur during normal movement.

Alert delay provides a short warning period on the OLAS Guardian, N2K, or Core system before the full MOB alarm is activated. During this time, the unit will emit an audible beep, giving the operator the opportunity to either bring the tag back within range or manually override the alert using the control switch.

Both detection time and alert delay can be fine-tuned between 1 and 15 seconds, ensuring the system is responsive yet adaptable to suit different vessel layouts and use cases.

In addition, the OLAS app is used to keep all connected hardware up to date with the latest firmware updates and new OLAS functionality. This ensures your system remains fully optimised, secure, and future-proof, with ongoing improvements delivered directly through the app.
